Experienced & qualified
tour guide

Your guide Tony is not only an experienced remote area tour guide, he's also a Cert IV qualified trainer and assessor in four wheel driving. And he's a friendly bloke too!

Off-road camper
trailer friendly

Take your off-road trailer to places you won't find or aren't confident to go to on your own . Help and advice when you need it.

Mechanical assistance

Get the practical mechanical help you need if things don't go to plan. From tyre changes to changing shocks (and a lot more). NRMA doesn't work up here!

We offer a safety net for people who may not be as confident about venturing into remote locations by themselves. There's also the knowledge and experience that goes into planning. If you haven't been somewhere before, it's tough to get the most out of a trip. We know exactly where to go, how long it takes to get there, where to camp, what the facilities are like and how to best use your time to see all of the highlights.

Interestingly enough, this scenario happens very rarely. We require that your vehicle is well maintained and inspected by a mechanic before the trip and we ask you to carry certain spares. Most mechanical issues don't stop you from moving. We will do everything we can to get you mobile again and in the case that your vehicle needs expert attention, we can get your vehicle to a mechanic or to a position where it can be recovered by a flatbed truck.

It is recommended that you have the highest level of NRMA/RAQC type cover because it can help with your expenses if the worst happens. Travel insurance is also highly recommended so you are not out of pocket if you cannot complete a trip.

Contact us prior to booking and we can discuss the requirements of a 4WD or trailer for the Cape Tour.

Generally speaking, you need a high clearance 4WD in good mechanical order with low range and light truck (LT) tyres with at least 50% tread remaining.

An off-road trailer needs to have independent suspension, good ground clearance and be sturdy enough to survive many days on corrugated roads.

You will need a fridge and supplies to last 5 days, as well as camping equipment that is efficient to put up and take down.

Fuel is readily available on the Cape. In a worst case scenario, you will need a range of 500 kms.

There are a number of places to buy supplies on the Cape tour. Many of the overnight stops have restaurant facilities where you can buy dinner. A full list of places to buy food is supplied when you book the tour.
